Getting started

Depositing on Polymarket from Telegram: Step by Step

Updated · 6 min read · by the PolyCopy team

No need for an account on polymarket.com: with PolyCopy, your wallet is created in Telegram and you deposit USDC into it on the Polygon network. Here are the exact steps for each app.

How it works

Polymarket runs on digital dollars (USDC) on the Polygon blockchain. With PolyCopy, you don't open an account on polymarket.com: the bot creates your wallet in Telegram, shows you a deposit address and places your orders on Polymarket. Depositing simply means sending USDC on the Polygon network to that address.

You need an app that lets you buy and send USDC (Coinbase, Revolut, Binance, Kraken…). They ask for an identity check when you sign up: that is the rule in Europe. The apps available to you, and the payment methods they accept (card, bank transfer…), depend on your country. If USDC and the Polygon network are new to you, start with our guide to USDC on Polygon.

Step 1: get your deposit address

  1. Open the PolyCopy bot in Telegram and tap 💼 Wallet.
  2. Choose 📥 Deposit USDC (Polygon).
  3. The bot sends your address on its own, in a separate message: tap it to copy it. It starts with 0x.

No crypto app yet? The 🧭 I don't have crypto yet button in the same menu gives you the steps app by app, right in the bot.

Step 2: send USDC on the Polygon network

Whatever the app, the rule is the same: USDC token, Polygon network. Here is the path in the most popular ones (labels may vary slightly from one version to another).

Coinbase

  1. Buy → USDC → amount in your currency (card or bank transfer).
  2. Send → USDC → amount, then paste your PolyCopy address as the recipient.
  3. Network: Polygon (not Ethereum, not Base), then confirm.

Coinbase sends "native" USDC: the bot converts it automatically.

Revolut

  1. Crypto tab → buy USDC.
  2. USDC → Send → external address.
  3. Network: Polygon, paste the address, enter the amount and confirm.

If Revolut doesn't offer the Polygon network for USDC, don't send anything on another network: use Coinbase.

Binance

  1. Buy USDC. If you only have USDT, convert it to USDC first.
  2. Wallet → Withdraw → USDC → send via crypto network.
  3. Paste the address and choose the Polygon network (sometimes shown as "Polygon POS" or "MATIC").
  4. Confirm with your security code. Binance applies a small minimum withdrawal amount.

Kraken

  1. Buy USDC, then Withdraw → USDC.
  2. Add the address with the Polygon network and approve the confirmation email.
  3. A new address may be held for a few minutes for security: this is normal.

MetaMask or another wallet

Select the Polygon network, then send USDC (or USDC.e) to your PolyCopy address.

Step 3: check that it has arrived

Once you have sent the funds, tap ✅ Check my deposit in the bot. Allow 1 to 5 minutes depending on the app. The bot then automatically converts your USDC into pUSD, the currency Polymarket uses for bets, at a 1:1 rate, in about a minute. There is nothing else to do, and no network fees to pay: they are covered.

How much should you deposit?

  • For a first bet, $5 is enough. Polymarket requires at least 5 shares per order, about $2.50 at a price of 0.50.
  • To copy a trader, plan enough to follow all of their bets: with $5 per bet, count on $50 to $100 for a regular trader. The calculation is explained in our copy trading guide.
  • In any case, only deposit what you can afford to lose.

Mistakes to avoid

  • The wrong network: never Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum or Solana. The funds would not reach your wallet and could be lost.
  • The wrong token: USDT is not accepted. USDC and USDC.e both work.
  • A miscopied address: check the first and last characters before confirming. For your first transfer, test with a small amount.
  • Fake support: nobody at PolyCopy will ever ask for your private key or ask you to "unlock" your wallet. Those are scams.

What about withdrawals?

From the same Wallet menu, tap 📤 Withdraw: enter a USDC address on the Polygon network (the one for your Coinbase or Binance account, or for your own wallet) and the amount. The bot converts your balance to USDC before sending it.

Before depositing, check the rules where you live: Polymarket's international platform is banned or restricted in several countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Australia and Singapore.

Frequently asked questions

Can I deposit regular currency (dollars, euros…) directly?

Not directly in the bot: first buy USDC on an app such as Coinbase or Revolut (by card or bank transfer), then send it on the Polygon network to the address shown in the bot.

How long does a deposit take?

Usually 1 to 5 minutes depending on the app, plus about a minute of automatic conversion in the bot.

Do I need POL (MATIC) to pay network fees?

No. Network fees for PolyCopy wallets are covered: you only need USDC.

What should I do if I sent funds on the wrong network?

Message the bot right away (any free-text message is passed on to the team) and include the transaction ID. Depending on the network used, the funds can be hard, or even impossible, to recover: that is why the Polygon network is repeated at every step.
